Billing and refunds

Trials, upgrades, downgrades, failed payments, cancelling, and the self-serve 14-day refund.

Last updated

Everything below is self-serve from Settings → Billing. You should never have to email anyone to change your own subscription, and if you do, that is a bug worth reporting.

The trial

Fourteen days of Creator, no card. We email on day 12 and day 14. If you do nothing:

  • The workspace becomes read-only. You can see everything and approve nothing.
  • A banner offers the plans.
  • Nothing is deleted for 90 days. Your drafts, media, transcripts and connections stay where they are.

There is no free forever tier. Read-only is the only free state.

Changing plan

Upgrading is immediate and prorated. Before you confirm you see the exact figure, phrased as "You'll be charged $21.40 today, then $49/mo from the 7th". Everything unlocks the moment it goes through.

Downgrading takes effect at the end of the current period, never mid-cycle. Before you confirm you are shown which limits will apply and what will be paused. Extra connections are disabled, never deleted, and you choose which ones stay active.

Monthly to yearly is immediate, with your unused monthly time credited against the yearly price.

Overages

On Creator and Agency, turn on Auto top-up: $10 for 500 additional AI drafts or 100 additional media minutes, charged as used, with a monthly cap you set. On Solo and Lane Pass there is no top-up; you upgrade instead. Either way there is no silent overage charge.

Refunds

There is a Refund my first payment button in Billing, visible for 14 days after your first charge. Pressing it issues the Stripe refund and cancels immediately. There is no reason field, no retention flow and nobody to convince.

Beyond 14 days, email support and explain the situation. We read these ourselves and we are not difficult about genuine cases.

Cancelling

Cancel plan opens a drawer. You pick a reason, you may see one contextual offer — a discount if you said too expensive, a pause of one to three months if you said not using it — and then there is a button to cancel at period end. One offer, one click to decline it. No survey chains and no hidden cancel link.

After cancelling you get the date access ends, an Export my data button, and a Resume button that stays available until that date.

Failed payments

A failed payment puts the workspace into past_due with a banner. Drafts keep generating throughout. Autopilot pauses on day 3 so nothing goes out on an account in arrears. Stripe retries over 14 days and you get three emails, on day 0, 3 and 10. On day 14 the subscription cancels and the workspace becomes read-only, which is recoverable at any point by paying.

Invoices and tax

Every invoice is a downloadable PDF in Billing. Add a VAT or GST number and it appears on all future invoices. Tax is calculated by Stripe Tax based on your billing address.
